Director of academic programming

Yashas Samtani (Uplift ASBC)

Hello everyone! My name is Yashas, and I am a first year student majoring in economics. I am running for the position of Director of Academic Programming with my team Uplift ASBC. As Director of Academic Programming, I plan to work on three major policy initiatives. Firstly, I wish to connect university education with employment and careers by partnering with Career Services, departments, and student clubs to hold workshops and to connect arts students to the best resources and representatives. Meanwhile, I will work to create the Canadian Coalition of Arts Student Bodies (CCASB) to assess the academic issues faced by all Arts students and effectively advocate for transparent and fair treatment of Arts students at the UofM. Lastly, I wish to promote a positive academic environment from a mental-health and accessibility perspective. I am confident that with my team, Uplift ASBC, we can create an environment where arts students can feel confident and optimistic about their academic future. And in the meanwhile, provide a means through which Arts Students can explore careers opportunities and communicate with their student representatives in every program and department.
